Only buy a used Quest 2 if the price is well below a new Quest 3S and you accept older Fresnel optics, weaker passthrough, and a prior hardware generation.
It still has a huge installed base and many games, but it is no longer the default first headset. Skip the Quest 2 if you are paying near 3S money, care about mixed reality, or want a current chip. Spend on a Quest 3S instead, or stretch to a Quest 3 for pancake lenses.

Before you buy
Prefer a new Quest 3S in most cases. Choose a used Quest 2 only when it is much cheaper and you accept older lenses, weaker passthrough, and last-gen hardware.
Generally no. If you are spending near current budget-headset money, Quest 3S is the better default for the same ecosystem.
No for standalone Quest titles. A PC is optional if you want to stream PC VR games.
Some people adapt after adjusting it; many others find it unbalanced and uncomfortable and add an elite-style or third-party strap.
Many existing Quest games still run, but new flagship titles increasingly target newer Quest hardware. Buy it for the deal and the library that already exists, not as hardware that will stay current.
