Arken Age now supports streaming from a PC to Steam Frame through both its OpenXR and SteamVR launch options. Version 1.008.000 arrived on October 1, according to MIXED's report on VitruviusVR's patch announcement. A version that runs on the headset itself remains undecided.
VitruviusVR says it is choosing whether to put staff into a Steam Frame standalone port or keep its full focus on its next VR game. The studio has given no date for that decision. For now, playing Arken Age on Frame means the computer runs the game and sends it wirelessly to the headset.
Controller changes and faster crouching
The patch uses the Frame controllers' extra buttons to put both quick deploys on the controller that does not handle movement. Players can deploy shields and grenades while moving, as they already could with syringes. The bumpers now eject weapon batteries.
VitruviusVR also says it addressed crouching lag caused by the physics joints in the player's virtual body. The body should follow headset height more closely, while jumps and falls keep their existing behavior. Stick crouching is faster too.
Arken Age is a VR action-adventure with physics combat, swords and guns. Its Steam listing places it in the Bio-Chasm, a fantasy world players can explore by climbing and swimming.
