Bigscreen has cut the starting price of Beyond 2 from $1,019 to $959. Beyond 2e, which adds eye tracking, fell from $1,219 to $1,159. Both headsets are $60 cheaper than before, but the advertised prices cover the headset, not a complete PC VR setup.
Bigscreen's product page says Beyond 2 needs at least one SteamVR base station. Controllers are also needed for games that use your hands, although flight and racing simulator players can use their existing controls. Base stations and controllers are sold separately. A capable Windows PC is required as well.
What a new setup costs
Valve's US Steam listings put an Index base station at $149 and a pair of Index controllers at $279. Two base stations are a common room-scale configuration, while one meets Bigscreen's stated minimum. These example totals use the listed prices and exclude the PC, tax, and any optional accessories.
| Hardware | Beyond 2 | Beyond 2e |
|---|---|---|
| Headset only | $959 | $1,159 |
| Headset and one $149 base station | $1,108 | $1,308 |
| Headset, two base stations and $279 controllers | $1,536 | $1,736 |
The one-station total is enough to show the minimum tracking cost for a simulator setup without VR controllers. The two-station total is a more useful comparison for someone starting hand-controlled, room-scale PC VR. Valve's listings show prices, but buyers should check local availability and their cart before treating either example as a purchasable bundle. Owners with compatible SteamVR tracking equipment can reuse it and pay closer to the headset price.
A different standard face cushion
The standard Beyond 2 now comes with Bigscreen's Universal-Fit Cushion, a thin silicone light seal offered in soft and firm versions. Bigscreen says the shared fit makes it easier to pass the headset between people. A Custom-Fit Cushion made from a 3D face scan remains an upgrade. Bigscreen says the custom version spreads pressure across the face and can reduce light leakage, but it is less convenient to share.
Shipping estimates need a fresh check
Bigscreen published the price announcement on August 31, when low inventory meant most orders were expected to take about two weeks to ship. It expected to return to one-to-two-business-day shipping by September 14. That target has passed, so the estimate shown at checkout is the relevant one for an order placed now.
The company gave its separate Halo Mount a longer schedule. It expected the largest share of preorders to ship in October and the backlog to clear in November. Bigscreen also refreshed its store and configurator, which now shows selected options visually as shoppers build an order.
