Even G2 buyers who need varifocal lenses in Japan face a lens bill of 120,800 to 150,800 yen, on top of the 99,800-yen frame. That puts the frame-and-lens total at 220,600 to 250,600 yen. MIXED reports the prices from Japanese distributor Acalie and optical retailer AI Japan, which runs Aimegane.
The G2 has displays for both eyes and no camera. Acalie's September 30 release describes notifications, schedules and real-time translation in about 35 languages. Prescription lenses fit directly into the frame, and participating stores measure the buyer's vision before ordering them.
The full frame-and-lens bill
The release lists tax-inclusive prices at three lens indices. Single-vision lenses cost less than the frame at every listed index. Varifocal lenses cost more at every index. We added the same 99,800-yen frame price to each lens price below.
| Lens type | Lens index | Lenses | Frame and lenses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single-vision | 1.60 | 26,800 yen | 126,600 yen |
| Single-vision | 1.67 | 37,800 yen | 137,600 yen |
| Single-vision | 1.74 | 58,800 yen | 158,600 yen |
| Varifocal | 1.60 | 120,800 yen | 220,600 yen |
| Varifocal | 1.67 | 135,800 yen | 235,600 yen |
| Varifocal | 1.74 | 150,800 yen | 250,600 yen |
The frame price includes a charging case. Buyers can choose the G2 A or G2 B shape, each in three colours. The optional R1 control ring with its charger costs 41,800 yen. A clip and pouch set costs another 16,800 yen. The totals above exclude both extras.
Allow about four weeks for fitting
Acalie gives a roughly four-week guide time for the made-to-order prescription lenses. The release names five certified Aimegane fitting stores across Saitama, Tochigi and Chiba. Shin-Koshigaya and Fukaya Kamishiba-nishi join Minami-Urawa, Utsunomiya Nishiki and Yachiyodai Your Elm.
For buyers in those prefectures, the release identifies these five as the only certified stores with in-store G2 prescription fitting. Aimegane has 38 stores overall, so check the branch before travelling.
