FramePort is an unofficial tool that installs Quest, Android and PC VR games on Valve's Steam Frame. Its developer's tested list still marks six Quest titles as unable to run. For a Quest owner weighing a switch, the useful question is whether the games they want to keep playing appear among those failures or the entries with unresolved problems.
MIXED reports that FramePort first appeared on GitHub on October 2. The outlet counted 39 tested titles, with 28 working, five working with issues and six failing. The project's current list has since grown. Its results remain the project's own testing.
What FramePort installs
The Python tool has builds for Windows, Apple Silicon Macs and Linux. It converts, patches and signs game files, uploads them to the headset and adds shortcuts to the Steam library. Quest conversion uses OVRPort and Valve's Lepton Android container. PC VR support uses Proton or Revive.
FramePort also adds its own OpenXR adapter, FrameBridge. The README says it emulates functions that the Frame lacks, including passthrough, room information and controller models. Ordinary Android apps can run in flat windows. A Files tab transfers files, and Type on Frame sends a computer keyboard's input to the headset.
The project is unaffiliated with Valve or Meta. You must supply legally obtained game files. FramePort does not download or unlock games, so installing the tool alone will not move a purchased Quest library onto the Frame.
The six failures have different causes
The current catalog names all six failures and their recorded causes:
| Quest title | Recorded failure |
|---|---|
| Journey of the Gods | 32-bit only. The Frame lacks AArch32 support. |
| Shadow Point | 32-bit only. The Frame lacks AArch32 support. |
| Sports Scramble, Santa Cruz version | 32-bit only. The Frame lacks AArch32 support. |
| Espire 1: VR Operative, Quest Edition | Mesa graphics driver crashes during texture upload. |
| HITMAN 3 VR: Reloaded | Vulkan driver crashes, even without Valve layers. |
| Sniper Elite VR | GPU hangs, even with multisample anti-aliasing off. |
Some partial successes also have substantial limits. Arcsmith's right eye distorts during movement, and Time Stall has movement distortion in both eyes. The catalog calls both unresolved. Phantom: Covert Ops crashes when its DLC or store button is used. Silhouette relies on hands synthesized from controllers, which the developer describes as awkward.
Other entries have narrower problems. Assassin's Creed Nexus still has upside-down launch warning text. The catalog marks Batman: Arkham Shadow, Asgard's Wrath 2 and Beat Saber as working.
