Pimax Play 2.0.4 includes a firmware fix for screen distortion on the Dream Air SE. Pimax's release notes name Dream Air SE firmware 1.0.6 for that fix. Pimax says the software update is rolling out to users over two weeks from its September 20 release, so it may still be absent from an owner's update prompt.
The software update also fixes floor height changing when a game opens, controllers occasionally becoming unresponsive, and a frame rate drop when sharpening is enabled. Pimax lists fixes for elevated black levels, game settings that reset on their own, and a rare tracking library crash. It gives no figures for how often these problems occurred or how much frame rate the sharpening fix recovers.
What changes on each headset
Pimax lists firmware 1.0.6 for the Dream Air and Dream Air SE, 1.0.22 for the Crystal Light, and 1.0.18 for the Crystal Super. Its notes describe the Dream Air SE screen distortion fix specifically. For the other firmware builds, Pimax says only that it fixed device or compatibility issues.
Version 2.0.4 also adds IPD and volume controls to custom button settings and a tracking warning when a game starts. It improves repair when the SteamVR driver is missing and adds account deletion. Pimax lists a 313 MB Windows 10 and 11 installer on its downloads page. As MIXED reports, that page shows 2.0.4 even though Pimax's community forum still has older release notes.
