Android XR Bridge has shown Quest games running on a Windows PC, but its planned Early Access launch has slipped. Developer Feli Reintgen delayed the September 21 release after problems with the installer, games failing to start, and limited support across untested titles, according to UploadVR.
The experimental runtime takes Android-based VR applications made for Quest and runs them on a PC through OpenXR. That could give PC VR owners access to games that have no native PC version, using legally owned game files. The delayed release means the reported results are a look at the developer's work, rather than a ready-to-install option for players today.
What the 4K demo shows
In a September 16 post described by UploadVR, Reintgen showed the Quest version of Pinball FX VR rendering at 4K per eye and 120 frames per second through Android XR Bridge. Those figures describe that demonstration. They do not establish the same resolution, frame rate, or stability for other Quest games or PC setups.
UploadVR also names Batman: Arkham Shadow, Deadpool VR, and Asgard's Wrath 2 as Quest exclusives that can run through the project. The developer's account of the delay makes the current limit clearer: the installer can fail, the runtime can fail to launch games, and many untested games fail most of the time.
When can PC VR owners try it?
UploadVR reports that the September 21 Early Access date has been delayed. It gives no replacement date. PC VR owners can watch the developer's demonstrations now, but the source does not describe a released Early Access build they can install.
The project is intended for legal copies of Quest games. Its eventual usefulness will depend on whether the installer works reliably and how many games run well beyond the developer's showcased examples.
