Beat Saber placed third in both Steam's VR top-seller list and Meta's Quest chart in two snapshots reported by MIXED. The lists give headset buyers different kinds of information. Only eight of Steam's top 25 games required a headset, while four of Quest's top five were free to install.

Read together, the reports identify games to consider, but leave the amount headset owners spend unresolved. Neither chart supplies the figures needed to compare sales across the two stores.

Steam's VR filter includes monitor games

MIXED's Steam report records the US store in English at 14:44 UTC on October 1. Of the first 25 results, eight had Valve's "VR Only" tag. The other 17 had "VR Supported", meaning they also work on a monitor.

War Thunder and VRChat, both free to play and playable on a monitor, occupied the first two places. Beat Saber was the highest-ranked game that required a headset.

The monitor-compatible entries included racing and flight games such as Assetto Corsa, F1 25 and DCS World Steam Edition. Their inclusion means the VR filter covers purchases by people who can play without a headset. MIXED also observed positions shifting during checks that afternoon.

Quest's chart includes free installs

MIXED's Quest report records Meta's "Top-selling this week" page at 23:39 UTC on September 30. HERO x HERO and UG led the list, followed by Beat Saber, VRChat and Scary Baboon. Beat Saber was the only paid game among those five, at $19.99.

Across all 24 entries, 14 had a "Get" button with no install price. The next paid games after Beat Saber were BONELAB in eighth and Blade & Sorcery: Nomad in ninth. Meta supplied no explanation of whether revenue, units or another measure determined the order.

The two reports describe different dates and different list lengths. Prices and ranks belong to those snapshots, so check the store before buying.
