Beat Saber is getting a hand-tracking mode called Flux in spring 2027. It is part of a larger update coming to both Meta VR Glasses and Meta Quest, so current Quest owners are included in the announced release. The update also brings a revised solo campaign, rewards, and a new interface.
How Flux changes the game
Classic Beat Saber asks players to cut directional blocks with two virtual sabers. Flux uses hands as the weapons and introduces different note targets. A Flux Tether links the hands to slice through rod-shaped notes. Players also punch other targets, build Jolt energy, and squeeze their fists while cutting notes to activate a score boost.
Road to VR's hands-on report describes a one-song demo on Meta VR Glasses. The reporter says the new controls clicked quickly, but that short session cannot establish how hand tracking holds up on harder songs or over a longer set.
Flux will launch with 35 songs drawn from existing Beat Saber soundtrack and anniversary packs. More songs are planned after launch. Players who prefer physical input can use Touch controllers in Flux, according to UploadVR. Classic saber play and controller support remain part of the game.
Changes beyond Flux
The spring update also refreshes the single-player campaign with a light story, new barriers, and missions. Completing content will unlock cosmetic rewards such as sabers and notes. Badges and banners can be added to player profiles, with an inventory for switching cosmetics. A revised menu and first-time player flow are also planned.
UploadVR reports that the entire game will support hand tracking, extending the option beyond Flux. That matters for Meta VR Glasses, which will ship without controllers, and for Quest players who want to put their controllers down. The announced features are due in spring 2027; there is no specific release day yet.
