Meta AI version 292.1.0 adds email and calendar connections to the phone app that Meta requires for managing its AI glasses, according to MIXED's report. For Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta buyers, that means the required companion also contains a general-purpose assistant with account connections to consider.
The update reached iPhone and Android on October 2. Its release notes describe scheduled tasks and reminders for daily briefings, email and calendar connections, research reports, and tools for creating presentations, quizzes and workout planners.
What glasses owners use the app for
MIXED reports that Meta's store description calls the app the required companion for managing its AI glasses. It handles pairing the glasses and importing and sharing media. These are reasons a glasses owner needs the app regardless of whether they want its wider assistant tools.
The reported iOS build is 344 MB and requires iOS 17.2 or newer. Meta also says some AI functions depend on country and language, and some roll out over time. Installing the reported version alone therefore does not establish which functions an owner can use.
What the email and calendar announcement leaves open
The personal email and calendar release notes name no provider, permission scope or country. Meta separately names Google Workspace alongside Instagram professional accounts and Meta Ads Manager in its description of business connections. That business list does not establish support for a buyer's personal account.
The notes also leave a question for anyone hoping to use these tools hands-free. As MIXED points out, they do not say that scheduled tasks, briefings or email and calendar connections work through the glasses. The confirmed announcement concerns the phone assistant.
