Meta plans to bring its Muse AI agent to its smart glasses. A wearer will be able to call Muse by name, give it a task, and hear back when the work is done. Meta's examples include checking flight prices, booking appointments, and finding a replacement part. It also says Muse can act on what the wearer is looking at, such as a product on a shelf.
That changes the role of the glasses. Today's voice requests can return an answer. Muse is meant to continue work after the request, using a cloud computer with a browser and access to services the user connects. Meta says it will ask for approval before sensitive actions such as sending an email or making a purchase. The glasses provide a hands-free way to give the task and receive the result; Muse does the work in the cloud.
Timing and access are still unclear
Meta's Connect recap says Muse will reach AI glasses "in the coming months." UploadVR reports that Mark Zuckerberg said "in the coming weeks" on stage. Meta has not given a release date or a list of compatible glasses models in either account.
Muse is already rolling out on phones and the web in the US. Meta says people can choose which services Muse can access and can opt out of using their interactions to train its AI models. Its planned Confidential VM would further limit Meta's access to a user's Muse computer, but Meta says that option is coming later this year.
