Meta VR Glasses field-of-view simulator lets Quest 3 owners try the narrower view

Duuro Plays' WebXR demo lets Quest 3 owners toggle a 70 by 66 degree mask. Use it to judge clipped windows before weighing VR Glasses against Quest 3 or Steam Frame.

Quest 3 owners can try a browser demo that masks their view to Meta VR Glasses' reported 70-degree horizontal and 66-degree vertical field of view. Road to VR reports that Duuro Plays built the WebXR app so users can switch between that window and Quest 3's wider view before deciding whether to buy the glasses.

The glasses are due in spring 2027 at $1,299. They put about 100 grams on the head, but their view is narrower than Quest 3's quoted 110 by 96 degrees. The demo gives those angles a visible consequence, particularly when several virtual windows sit beside one another.

How to try the mask

Open the Duuro Plays simulator in Meta Quest Browser on a Quest 3. Select the Enter VR button and allow the WebXR session. Press A on the right controller to toggle the mask and compare it with the full Quest view.

The page offers a spatial multitasking scene with a central video window and chat and document windows to either side. Use that scene to see which window edges disappear when the mask is active. The page also has field-of-view controls, so check that the selected values are 70 degrees horizontally and 66 vertically.

This is a browser route to a visual comparison alongside the developer command in our earlier fov-sim coverage. It shows the demo's scenes rather than applying the crop to every Quest app.

Treat the optics explanation with caution

Road to VR identifies an error in Duuro's FAQ and specifications table. The page describes VR Glasses as using silicon carbide waveguides, confusing them with Meta's Orion AR prototype. VR Glasses use pancake lenses with micro-OLED displays.

Duuro itself says the mask cannot reproduce the glasses' optics, brightness, resolution or open peripheral vision. Use the demo to judge the viewing-angle cutoff. A hardware trial is still needed to judge text clarity and comfort.
