Meta VR Glasses have 2412 x 2288 pixels per eye, but Meta's developer guidance gives a perceived field-of-view target of just 58 degrees horizontally by 54 degrees vertically. MIXED reports that Meta added those figures to its field-of-view page, updated September 25. For buyers weighing the $1,299.99 glasses against Quest 3 or Steam Frame, the smaller view deserves as much attention as the pixel count.
Three field-of-view figures with different jobs
Meta gives the glasses a nominal straight-ahead view of 70 by 66 degrees. Its guidance treats that as an upper bound. Fit, eye position and gaze direction can reduce the visible area. Moving the eyes farther from the lenses reduces the view, especially vertically. Looking toward an edge can also make the lenses limit what the wearer sees.
The 58 by 54 degree figure is the "p90 perceived target" Meta asks developers to test against. MIXED says Meta leaves the population behind p90 undefined. A third figure, 74 by 68 degrees per eye, describes the angular area used for rendering. Buyers should use the perceived target when assessing interface space, while allowing for their own fit.
More panel pixels, less view
UploadVR's launch comparison already listed the glasses' panel resolution. The new developer guidance adds context to that specification. UploadVR gives the following figures for the competing headsets. Their field-of-view ratings use different descriptions, so this table compares published specifications rather than a shared wearer test.
| Device | Pixels per eye | Published field of view | US price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meta VR Glasses | 2412 x 2288 | 70 x 66 degrees nominal, 58 x 54 degrees perceived target | $1,299.99 |
| Quest 3 | 2064 x 2208 | Roughly 110 x 96 degrees | About $600 for 512GB |
| Steam Frame | 2160 x 2160 | 110 x 110 degrees | $1,059 for 256GB, $1,299 for 1TB |
The glasses are due in spring 2027. Their standard package leaves Touch Plus controllers as a separate purchase, though owners can pair Quest 3 or Quest 3S controllers. Quest 3 includes tracked controllers. Steam Frame's price announcement says both storage kits include controllers and a wireless PC adapter. Valve sells its $29 charger separately.
